A cabinet maker who is a customer of ours asked for our help with dust collection. They had already bought the system, including the dust collectors and the duct work, from their machinery supplier. What they needed was someone to put it all together.
That is not how we would choose to start a project, but it is not unusual either. We can step in at any point of a project, pick up the pieces and move forward.
Where we usually start
When we sell duct work, the job includes designing the layout, understanding the pressure drops, making the fan and duct selections, and working through system pressures and issues. We don't always get the call at that stage, and this was one of those jobs.
Installing from the layout we were given
We looked at the details and the layout, and showed up to install based on the information we had.
Once we were on site, we found pieces that did not make sense for the layout the shop actually needed. The obstacles included:
- Incorrect sizing
- Incorrect flexible hose
Running in one day
Instead of walking away, we worked with what we had and used our own resources to get the shop up and running in one day.

- 11" and 16" galvanized steel main trunk lines
